About UsJohnCounter
John Mincoff, who worked for his father's family owned meat market in Conrath, Wisconsin, for 40 plus years, had to have something to do when the meat market was sold on September 1, 2005, and the new owners said they couldn't afford to keep him.  So, John, and wife Jayne, decided to open the Steel Horse Cafe.   They are both avid "bikers", hence the name, Steel Horse Cafe.

John does most of the cooking, he's pretty bossy as far as "his" kitchen is concerned.   We let him think he's King (aka Absolute Ruler) of the kitchen. Jayne does the baking, homemade pies, biscuits and creampuffs.  She does the baking after the king is out of the kitchen in the afternoons.

Jayne takes care of the decorating, mostly with pictures from fellow riders, past and present, who adorn the cafe walls.  "We are most fortunate to have our anonymous local photographer and picture fixer, who enlarges, brightens, lightens and bedazzles the pics ready for framing".   He comes down to the cafe to photograph special groups (mostly bikers) and special events.  He prefers to remain anonymous, but everyone knows him anyway.

The cafe opened in October of 2005, and we would really like to thank everyone who have tried it out.   "We love our "Locals", who we know as friends, and love seeing new faces".
